Your local crew in Portland

Portland is home base for us — our office is at 2002 New Deal Potts Rd, and a good share of our crew lives inside the city limits. From the older homes around downtown and Highway 52 to the newer subdivisions growing along the Highway 109 corridor, we've worked on just about every roof style this town has.

That mix matters: 1970s–90s homes around town are hitting the natural end of their original or second roofs, while newer builds took the brunt of recent hail seasons. Either way, you get honest local answers — and if you want to shake the hand behind the warranty, our door is ten minutes from yours.

Portland homeowners on working with us

  • “Had a leak two other companies “fixed” twice. Conyer found the real problem in twenty minutes — flashing, not shingles — repaired it properly and showed me photos of everything. It’s been through four storms since without a drop.”

Storm history in Portland

Storm Damage Guide

Portland sits squarely in Middle Tennessee's spring hail corridor. Recent seasons brought multiple hail and straight-line wind events across northern Sumner County — the May 2024 storm cycle produced quarter-to-golf-ball hail across the area, and severe cells coming up the Highway 52 corridor are a near-annual event. If your roof is more than a few years old and hasn't had a documented inspection since the last hail season, it's worth a free look.

How much does a roof replacement cost in Middle Tennessee?

Most asphalt shingle roof replacements in Middle Tennessee land between $12,000 and $28,000, depending on the size and pitch of the roof, the shingle line you choose, how many layers need to be torn off, and details like decking repairs, ventilation, and flashing.

Be careful comparing quotes on price alone. A low bid usually means corners are being cut somewhere you can't see — skipped ice-and-water barrier, reused flashing, or uncertified installers, which can also void your shingle warranty. As a GAF Master Elite contractor we install complete roofing systems to manufacturer spec, which is what makes the strongest warranties available.

The only way to get a real number is an inspection and measurement. Ours are free, documented with photos, and come with a written itemized estimate — no pressure, no games.

Is the roof inspection really free? What’s the catch?

Yes — genuinely free, and there's no catch. A member of our team walks the roof (or flies it, if walking isn't safe), photographs what we find, and gives you a straight written assessment.

Three things can come out of it: the roof is fine (we'll tell you, and you should ignore anyone who says otherwise); it needs a repair (we'll quote it); or it has storm damage or age issues that justify replacement or an insurance claim (we'll walk you through options).

Roughly a third of the inspections we run end with "your roof is fine, call us in a few years." That honesty is why our referrals keep coming.

What does hail damage look like on a roof?

From the ground, often like nothing at all — which is exactly why hail damage gets missed until it becomes a leak. Up close, look for:

  • Bruises or dark spots on shingles where granules were knocked loose
  • Granules collecting in gutters and downspouts (they look like coarse black sand)
  • Dents in soft metals — gutters, downspouts, roof vents, flashing, and AC fins are telltales
  • Cracked or exposed fiberglass mat on older shingles

Hail doesn't need to be huge to matter: quarter-size (1") hail can compromise a shingle roof, and Middle Tennessee sits in a genuine hail corridor. If a storm dropped hail on your area in the last 12 months, get a documented inspection even if the ceiling looks fine — insurance claims have time limits.
